Fed: Aust Defence Force to play anti-terrorist role at CHOGM

SYDNEY, Feb 22 AAP - The Australian Defence Force (ADF) will have the authority toshoot down a plane in the event of a terrorist air strike during CHOGM next week.

Defence Minister Robert Hill said today the ADF would play a critical role in heightenedsecurity measures ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting at Coolum on Queensland'sSunshine Coast.

The ADF deployment for the four day meeting from March 2-5 would cost $9 million, and2,400 personnel would be involved, he said.
