Fed: Interest rates likely to stay on hold today

Homeowners are likely to be spared an interest rate rise this morning .. when the Reserve
Bank announces the outcome of yesterday's board meeting.

At 9.30 am (AEST).. the bank will announce whether it's keeping the official cash rate
at 5.5 per cent for the 13th month in a row.

Economists say the rate is likely to stay unchanged .. because inflation appears to
be under control.

Treasurer PETER COSTELLO says he's confident Australia can keep inflation steady ..

despite rising petrol prices.
